Environmental benefits of Sainfoin

Gas production, and methane production in particular, is becoming increasingly researched. As part of the Healthy Hay project tests have been conducted on Sainfoin. Results suggest that Sainfoin is a sustainable forage as it produces dietary nutrients such as protein and ME efficiently. Future plant breeding would lead to varieties with lower environmental emissions of ammonia, NO and methane.
